On March 1, more than 200 clients and partners attended the Visa Ready Summit at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The event showcased how Visa and our Visa Ready partners are driving innovative advancements in payment technology, including tokenization, the Internet of Things (IoT), biometrics, mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) and B2B digital payments. Attendees gained insight into the ongoing adoption of emerging technologies and took part in the unique opportunity to engage with guest speakers, panel discussions and Q&As, including experts from Giesecke & Devrient, Gemalto, Safran Identity & Security, Inside Secure and Samsung.

Given that the biometrics market size is projected to reach 32.7 billion by 2022 and the number of biometric-based companies is growing every year, Visa continues to work diligently with our clients and partners to set principles and a standards-based approach for security, reliability and interoperability. The Visa Ready for Biometrics program is designed to promote the adoption of new biometric authentication experiences by evaluating technology performance, reliability and security.
This past fall, Visa launched the Token Service Provider program to help accelerate adoption of tokenized payments across any connected device. One of the goals of the program is to allow new stakeholders to participate in the payments ecosystem and to ensure continued security of digital payments. The program’s key benefits include the ability for connected device manufacturers to choose from a variety of participating token service providers, introducing new revenue opportunities and achieving global scale by simplifying integration and increasing interoperability across all players in the ecosystem.
