Missy Franklin, four-time Olympic Gold medalist (USA), just did the backstroke at sea to catch up with shot-putter Valerie Adams waiting for her on a ferry headed for Rio. Riding shotgun, Franklin did a little jig to Edwin Starr’s “25 Miles” before stopping to pay for gas using her Visa chip card. EMV chip technology replaces sensitive account details with a one-time code that is virtually impossible to duplicate on counterfeit cards (especially useful at the gas pump, where fraudsters can test counterfeit cards without a cashier present). World champion sprinter Wayde Van Niekerk (South Africa) raced past her with a wave, choosing to run, not ride, to Rio.
