For the first time in March 2017, U.S. consumers made more than one billion Visa chip transactions, an increase of 330 percent over March 2016. The number of chip-enabled merchant locations in the country reached two million, representing 44 percent of stores that accept Visa.
With more than 421 million Visa chip cards in the country, representing 58 percent of Visa cards, counterfeit fraud has been declining month over month—58 percent at chip-enabled merchants in December 2016 when compared to the previous year.
