There are more than 345.9 million Visa chip cards in the U.S. as of July, a 173 percent increase in the last 12 months. On the merchant side, the steady rise in chip-ready locations—to nearly 1.4 million—is having an impact on counterfeit fraud trends. At chip-enabled merchants in the U.S., counterfeit fraud dropped 38 percent in April compared to a year earlier.
